Yolanda Booker

Yolanda Booker was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She received her education through the Catholic School System. Yolanda has been married for more than 24 years; a mother of three beautiful children, and a grandmother of three gorgeous granddaughters.

Yolanda received her Bachelors of Science Degree in “ Business Management Administration” in 2011 from the University of Phoenix. In 2022, she earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Misso Seminary. In pursuant to her dream of helping others she became a “Certified Life Coach” in 2014; and a “Biblical Counselor” in 2018.

In 2007, tragedy hit Yolanda’s family when her youngest son was diagnosed with cancer which he battled until 2013. Yolanda used her grieving experience and became the author of “God Chosen Son “ which tells the story of her son’s journey of battling cancer. After writing the book she created a journal titled “ Grief Speaks” to assist others to channel their feelings. The journal inspired her to construct a non-profit virtual support group. This virtual community of “Grief Speaks” which is a 501c3 was founded in November 2022. The community is to provide a forum for people to have a support group to share their grieving experiences and assist each other through the grieving process.

As a pre- licensed mental health therapist Yolanda also provides one on one therapy sessions specializing in grief. Yolanda welcomes you to take this journey with her.

Mission

Grief Speaks seeks to give grief a voice! Grief Speaks will provide a safe space to normalize, educate and build a community of individuals struggling while on their journey of grief and loss. Grief Speaks’ mission is to provide grief support groups, seminars and workshops that will help individuals feel supported during their pain. Grief Speaks believes that the more we understand grief the better we can manage during the inevitable occasion of loss.

Vision

Grief Speaks’ Vision is to provide grief support globally. Our vision is to provide support groups, funeral assistance, seminars and workshops that address grief and loss at large. We believe that individuals experience grief from loss of loved ones, relationships, health, even those who are still living. Grief Speaks would like individuals to develop supportive relationships to be able to support one another as a community. Grief Speaks want those grieving to know that “There is Life after Loss”

Grief Speaks has been an amazing source of healing for families that we serve at Nicole M. Bartlett Funeral Home & Cremations, Inc. We would like to Thank Yolanda Daveen Booker for being that obedient vessel that God ordained to deliver comfort, compassion, & Love to those who grieve.

I have now been with this community (family) for 4 weeks and I can truly say that I have been blessed beyond measure, firstly by the transparency of the people in this group from Mrs. Yolanda to my other sisters and brothers, which makes me feel ok about being transparent. Secondly, have again learned that I AM NOT ALONE!!
